The Neeraj Chopra Effect and Javelin in India
There is hardly any doubt that India’s success in the javelin throw could be attributed to Neeraj Chopra and his gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. At the Asian Games as well, where Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal, compatriot Kishore Jena won the silver, registering his personal best, clearing a distance of 87m. As far as the women’s javelin is concerned, Annu Rani had bagged a gold medal at the Asian Games as well.
