WATCH: Shreyas Iyer imitates Jadeja’s ‘medal’ celebration after stunning catch

It seems that the new 'medal' celebration is becoming a new trend in the Indian squad in this World Cup.

The IND vs NZ ODI World Cup match witnessed an early fielding masterclass from Shreyas Iyer at HPCA Stadium in Dharmshala. Iyer took a breathtaking catch to dismiss New Zealand opener Dewon Conway. The 28-year-old not only took a stunning catch but also imitated Ravindra Jadeja’s ‘medal’ celebration.

The incident happened in the 4th over. Mohammed SIraj bowled a length ball at the stumps and Conway tried to flick it but it goes in the air and Iyer grabbed it while diving to his right at forward square leg.

For those unfamiliar, Ravindra Jadeja brought out the unique ‘medal’ celebration during the game against Bangladesh after he took a spectacular catch at point. His celebration was a reference to a recent practice in the Indian dressing room, where the best fielder of the match is awarded a medal by the fielding coach.
