IPL 2023: Mumbai Indians (MI) players celebrated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)’s defeat against Gujarat Titans (GT) in grand style on May 21. RCB’s six-wicket defeat enabled MI to qualify for the playoffs as the fourth team in IPL 2023 season. IPL 2023: Last year’s favor to RCB not repeated by MI, as Rohit Sharma-led side seal playoff spot
In the last IPL 2022 season, RCB needed a favor from MI to seal a playoff place. It was a toss-up between DC and RCB for the last spot. MI had no chance to qualify, but they wanted to spoil the party of DC, and they did enabling RCB a playoff spot. This time RCB’s fate was in their hands, but they could not deliver the knockout punch against GT.
Despite Virat Kohli’s rollicking hundred, RCB bowlers yet again let down in the crucial match. MI though did not complain one bit as they qualified for the playoffs, and thereby booked eliminator match against LSG.

MI will now face Krunal Pandya-led LSG in the eliminator game. MI are coming off a resounding win against SRH. Cameron Green smashed his maiden IPL ton, enabling an easy run chase for MI. Skipper Rohit Sharma also got back amongst runs as he scored a fighting half-century. MI carry great momentum heading into playoffs.
On the other hand, LSG sealed their playoff place by beating KKR by one run. Nicholas Pooran’s blistering 50 proved just enough in the end, as LSG booked a second consecutive place in the playoffs.
Last season LSG were eliminated by RCB, in the eliminator, this season Krunal Pandya-led LSG will be keen to the distance and try to win the maiden IPL Trophy.
