Watch Lionel Messi narrowly avoid getting hit by bottle following Inter Miami clash

Lionel Messi was almost avoided being hit by a bottle thrown at him by a fan after the Inter Miami match.

A water bottle was hurled at Lionel Messi during Inter Miami’s win over LAFC on Sunday night, according to video. Inter Miami defeated LAFC 3-1 in a star-studded match to keep their play-off aspirations alive.

Lionel Messi stayed on the pitch for quite some time, collaborating with a number of celebrities, including actor Owen Wilson and LAFC’s Giorgio Chiellini. A missile was hurled at the Argentine as he walked down the tunnel at BMO Stadium. Fortunately, the object missed his head and struck a barrier next to him, prompting security personnel to rush him along the corridor.

Pop Icon Selena Gomez sends out heartfelt message for Lionel Messi

Messi’s presence in Inter Miami has provided the Herons with the promised benefits, as the forward has contributed 16 goals in just 11 games. While qualifying for the MLS Playoffs is difficult on paper, the team is quite likely to make its first postseason appearance in MLS.

Insidesport

Despite the field invaders, Lionel Messi was at his best in the encounter against Los Angeles FC. The Argentine did not register a point, an uncommon occurrence since adopting the pink shirt. However, this did not stop him from assisting the team. Messi assisted two goals for Jordi Alba and Leonardo Campana, keeping Inter Miami unblemished since his arrival.

Some of the greatest personalities gathered in the grandstand to see Messi light up the pitch. There was also a royal presence in the form of Prince Harry, who came down from his estate in Montecito to participate in the celebration. Despite having her name on the VIP guest list, his wife Meghan was not present.
