Watch: Laugh Riot in Australia camp as David Warner flips to counter Ashwin threat

Pat Cummins & Co couldn't stop their laughter after witnessing David Warner flips to counter Ashwin

The Australian camp had a laughter riot when David Warner switched from Left hand to right hand to counter Ravichandran Ashwin’s threat in India vs Australia 2nd ODI. Aussie skipper Pat Cummins could stop his laughter after witnessing the wild switch from his side’s opener.

The trick however seemed to work for Warner as he managed to hit a sweep shot against the Indian veteran off-spinner and got rewarded with a much-needed boundary. Ashwin however had the last laugh as he came out victorious in the battle by bowling a quick carrom ball which ultimately baffled Warner and dismissed him with a lbw.

While Warner has had outstanding records against spinners, he has struggled against Ravichandran Ashwin in Tests and ODIs. The Australian opener Warner has averaged 21.81 in Tests and 22 in ODIs against the off-spinner. Ashwin has consumed Warner a total of 19 times in all formats – 11 in Tests, 5 in T20s and 3 in ODIs.

Notably, Australia were set a revised target of 317 in 33 overs after rain halted the play for the second time. Chasing a mammoth 399, Australia were 56/ 2 when rain stopped play.

David Warner played aggressive cricket after the resumption and scored a crucial half-century. However, Ravichandran Ashwin changed the game in matter of few overs as struck thrice to reduce Australia to 102/5.

A special delivery was needed to dismiss Warner, and Ashwin produced that. A trademark carrom ball, bit fast and dipped low. Warner completely baffled by the delivery decides to switch stance and go for the reverse sweep. He fumbles as the ball dips even lower to hit his pads. The umpire raises his finger to dismiss the Australian opener.
