Ahead of the IND vs PAK encounter, Indian wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul opened up about his injury in May that derailed his IPL and WTC campaigns and put him in doubt about playing in the Asia Cup and the World Cup. Just hours before the all-important clash in the Asia Cup 2023, Rahul sat down with BCCI.TV and shared his struggles from the point of getting injured to finally coming back.
“I’m feeling good; obviously, it’s good to be back with the team, said Rahul on coming back to the Indian side after a long wait of six months.
“Everything worked out on schedule. So, I’m happy that I could tick off all the boxes, said the Karnataka batter after making a full recovery ahead of the Super Fours stage at the Asia Cup 2023.
“When you have a surgery, the most important thing is for you to respect that you put your body through something big and give your body time to recover,” said Rahul, trying to take his time to avoid further complications after his tendon injury.
“The big thing was to feel confident in my own body and be pain free. I knew coming back I’ll have to wicket keep as well. That was one of the big concerns for physios and for me.” Rahul added.

The Indian No. 5 also opened up about what troubled him the most during his recovery.
“The biggest challenge was to get rid of the fear and get rid of that pain aspect of things.”
On facing another setback before and missing the group stage matches of the Asia Cup 2023, Rahul said, “I went through a bit of ups and downs within the recovery period.”
I’m very excited about that. I’ve prepared really well, and I’m confident about myself Rahul opined on facing Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh in the coming week.
