The Asian Games fever is far from over as the athletes who took India’s medal count to over 100, are beginning to come back home. One of the biggest achievements this time around was the performance by our kabaddi teams, who reclaimed their gold medals, after failing to win in 2018. There was a lot of pressure on the men’s and women’s teams, who finished with bronze and silver medals, respectively, in the last edition.
But the Indian players did not disappoint. The men beat Iran in the final, while the women beat Chinese Taipei in the gold medal clash. The victory obviously meant a lot to the players, coaches, fans, as well the players’ parents. In a video that surfaced online on Wednesday, women’s team player Snehal Shinde’s father broke down, as soon as he received the latter with her gold medal, at the Pune airport. Her father Pradeep Shinde hugged Snehal amidst a warm reception.
