Watch: John Cena battle furious Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins in a death to fight match for the WWE Title at Royal Rumble 2015-This match took place at the 2015 Royal Rumble PPV, at a time when WWE had one single unified world championship. It was in Philadelphia, one of the most vocal towns for WWE. As champion, Lesnar rarely made appearances and so world title matches were rare. Rollins held the MITB briefcase holder and frequently alluded to cashing it in. finally, Cena was, well, Cena, and featured in the biggest matches very often because he was still considered the company’s biggest regular performer.Follow WWE Royal Rumble News and Updates with InsideSport.IN

A lot of people look at a match like this and sing its praises because they’re comparing it to what’s around it. So it stands to reason that, if a match like this is surrounded by garbage and great matches are few and far between, then of course something like this, with its really crazy moves and close near-falls, will be praised as being almost perfect.

On one hand, this match was a perfect demonstration of why people still love Brock Lesnar. He was the textbook definition of ‘dominant’ in this match. He ripped both Cena and Rollins to shreds many times. He managed to suplex two men at once, one in each arm. And when he landed a vertical suplex on Cena or Rollins, they didn’t land a few feet from Lesnar;

The championship bout was supposed to mark the final chapter in the epic rivalry between the two dominant Superstars. It would have been their third one-on-one battle since SummerSlam,where the nearly 300-pound Anomaly decimated Cena in a one-sided beatdown.

The Cenation leader rebounded in a rematch the following month at Night of Champions and appeared to be on the brink of victory when Rollins interfered, leading to Lesnar’s disqualification and title retention. Rollins then attempted to cash in his Money in the bank Contract only for Cena to foil his plans.

Cena went on to defeat Randy Orton inside Hell in a cell in October, earning the No. 1 contendership, before leading a team of Superstars to remove The Authority from power at Survivor 15-time World Champion defended his positioning as top contender at WWE TLC :Tables ,Ladders and chairs and stairs in a Tables Match victory over Rollins.

John Cena eventually earned his title shot at the Royal Rumble against Lesnar, however, Triple H would further stack the odds in the Authority’s favour by inserting Rollins into the match; in spite of Rollins already possessing the Money in the Bank briefcase.

This added an extra layer of uncertainty and unpredictability to the encounter, as Rollins could potentially receive two title opportunities in the same night if he decided to cash in his briefcase.

If you’re going to re-watch this match, it’s best to focus on Lesnar being Lesnar. And aside from Rollins’ dives, nothing else in this match is truly groundbreaking.
