From support staff to reserved players, all ran to the pitch to hug the players. MS Dhoni, who led the CSK side to their 10th final in 14 seasons, was once again calm and didn’t celebrate much despite taking his side to another IPL final. Former CSK player Dwayne Bravo, who is now part of CSK’s coaching staff, came in running and hugged Conway, and other players after securing a comfortable win.

I have ample time to decide: MS Dhoni on retirement

In the post-match presentation, MS Dhoni was asked whether the fans will see him again playing at Chepauk to which the CSK skipper said that he will take a call in the next 8-9 months.

“I don’t know, I have 8-9 months to decide. I have ample time to decide. The auction is in December. I will always come to CSK. I have been out of home from January, been practicing since March, so we will see”, Dhoni said in the post-match presentation.

Earlier, after being out to bat, CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad (60) and Devon Conway (42) propelled the home side to 172 for 7 in 20 overs. Ravindra Jadeja also played a handy knock of 22 towards the end to take CSK to a competitive total on a tricky pitch. In reply, Gujarat never looked comfortable in the chase as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were bundled out for 157. Opener Shubman Gill was the lone warrior for the defending champions as he scored a gritty 38-ball 42.
