With the 2023 World Cup nearing fast, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has said that he wants to be in the same mind frame as during 2019 WC. It must be noted that Rohit scored an unprecedented five centuries in the competition and amassed 648 runs at a huge average of 81.00. Ahead of the competition, Rohit has said that he wants to focus on himself and shut out any negative or positive thoughts coming from outside.
“For me, it is important how I keep myself relaxed and not worry about external factors that play a role, whether positively or not negatively. I want to shut out everything,” Rohit told PTI in an interview.
“I want to get into the phase I was in before the 2019 World Cup. I was in great frame of mind and prepared really well for the tournament. I was in good shape, good mindset. I want to bring that back and I have time to do that. Trying to recollect what were the right things that I was doing before the 2019 World Cup as a cricketer and as a person. I want to revisit that thought-process of mine personally,” he added.
Not bothered about legacy: Rohit Sharma
When asked about whether he ever thinks about his ‘legacy’ in Indian cricket having played for the Men in Blue for 16 years, Rohit came up with a ‘NO’.
“I am not the person who thinks about what kind of legacy I will leave behind. My legacy will be for people to judge and talk about. Not for me to say. I am not a firm believer in numbers. You should be happy and enjoy the time you have in-front of you, and try to live in that kind of moment. I am thinking about what gives me happiness. For me, it’s all about creating memories and creating a good rapport with my teammates. Be happy in whatever you get and whatever you have,” he said.
At present, Rohit along with other team members are in Alur, Karnataka. The Men in Blue are slated to leave for Sri Lanka to participate in the upcoming Asia Cup. To note, India will take on arch-rivals Pakistan in their opening match of the Asia Cup. The clash will take place on September 2 in Pallekele.
