Virat Kohli fans, beware! Babar Azam stamps authority with big record in ODIs

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has already stroked 18 centuries and 27 fifties in his 100 ODI innings so far.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam named yet another record as he became the highest run getter after 100 ODI innings. Babar reached the milestone during the second ODI encounter between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Azam surpassed Hashim Amla by some distance as Indian star batter Virat Kohli stands ninth on that list. Meanwhile, the Men in Green are chasing 301 runs to win against Afghanistan in the second ODI and take the series.

Babar has stroked 18 centuries and 27 fifties in 100 ODI innings

In the first game, Babar could not do well as he was pinned in front of the wickets by spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman. However, the right-handed batter looked fluent as ever in the second fixture. The talented batter completed his 27 half-century as the visitors look to win the game and claim the series by 2-0.

Babar looks in good touch ahead of some important events including Asia Cup and World Cup 2023 in India. It must be noted that Pakistan will take on arch-rivals India in their second match of the Asia Cup. Pakistan will play their opening game of the marquee event on August 30 against Nepal.

Meanwhile, Babar’s innings came to an end after he reached his fifty milestone. The Pakistani skipper was scalped by pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi for 53 runs in 66 deliveries. His innings included six boundaries. On the other hand, opener Imam-ul-Haq also completed a fine fifty with the bat. Earlier in the match, Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz slammed his highest international score as he amassed 151 runs and helped his team post 300 runs on the board.
