Virat Kohli has decided to take a break from white-ball cricket and will likely not participate in T20Is and ODIs until approximately March 2024, spanning around four months. Following the disappointment in the World Cup final, Kohli was rested for the five-match T20l series against Australia. Notably, he won’t be participating in the upcoming India vs South Africa T20Is and ODIs.
Virat Kohli told the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that he needs a break from white-ball cricket and hasn’t specified a definitive timeline. He assured the BCCI and selectors that he will inform them about his return to white-ball cricket at a later date.
Nevertheless, Virat Kohli will be available for Test cricket. After completing the white-ball leg of the tour, India will participate in a two-match Test series against the Proteas. The first Test is set to commence on Boxing Day, December 26.

Virat Kohli to miss Afghanistan T20Is?
After wrapping up the two Tests in South Africa, India will host Afghanistan for three T20Is, starting on January 11. Considering the conclusion of the second Test against South Africa on January 7, the expectation is that Virat Kohli may not be available for the T20 series against Afghanistan.
Furthermore, there are no scheduled white-ball series for India following the Afghanistan T20Is. The Indian side will host England for a long five-match Test series, running until March 11.
With the IPL 2024 expected to kick off at the end of March, it appears improbable that fans will witness Virat Kohli in action during white-ball matches for India in the near future. Presently, Virat Kohli is on a family holiday in the United Kingdom.
