“I’m unsure whether I’m permitted to discuss why I had to do that, but Showtime and DAZN are competitors,” Danis stated. “I had to pay a significant sum. It’s a large sum of money. More than most UFC [fighters] likely make what I’m paying Scott Coker(Bellator CEO) to let me compete. I remain a part of them. If I were affiliated with Showtime, it would be different because of the agreement that Showtime has with them.”
VIDEO: Did Dillon Danis pay the Bellator MMA to fight KSI in boxing?A Bellator representative declined to comment when contacted about Danis’ comments on Wednesday by MMA Fighting. Danis is still affiliated with the promotion, according to Bellator CEO Scott Coker, who said he “didn’t want to hold him back” from an opportunity when the match was first announced. The executive wished Danis well and warned that KSI would “have your hands full.” Danis doesn’t dispute that some saw Coker’s remark as an indication of dissatisfaction with his potential star.

“As his star, he wants me to return to MMA, Danis stated. Nobody in Bellator will make that kind of noise. Who supplies so much hype? I believe that he is angry,” Danis said. “I agree that MMA should have been the setting for the big comeback, but why not beat up a YouTuber for a f****** tonne of cash?”
