Venkatesh Iyer CENTURY: MI vs KKR – Venkatesh Iyer became just the second KKR player to score a century after he stroked a fine knock against Mumbai Indians on Sunday. Walking in to bat at No.3, Venky put on a one-man show to guide his team to a commanding score at the Wankhede. The Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder becomes the first after Brendon McCullum to score a century, braving pain to end his team’s 15-year jinx. Follow IPL 2023 LIVE Updates on Insidesport.IN
Venkatesh Iyer had a scratchy start, with some lucky edges that ran into the fence. He was then hit on the knee after failing to connect the scoop shot. The KKR star was in visible pain and received medical attention from the physios.
After the blow, Iyer went on the offensive and the approach paid him rich dividends. The left-hander tonked sixes for fun, taking the attack to both Duan Jansen and Riley Meredith.
