Valorant Patch 4.01 Update: Ares Received a Significant Nerf by making it Difficult to Control – Valorant has been on a new chapter for just over a week, with Episode 4 and a new Game Director at the helm. Neon, the lightning-fueled speedster agent, was added in Patch 4.0. It also made significant adjustments to select weapons. Valorant patch 4.01 is now available, bringing with it a few new features as well as a reduction in the overpowered Ares changes. You can find the full list of patch notes for 4.01 here. Ares has been nerfed, melee attacks have been improved, and a Muted Words List has been added.

Ares received a significant upgrade that improved its efficiency in competitive circumstances by increasing its fire rate and decreasing its windup time. In an attempt to fine-tune the weapon, Ares’ fire rate was boosted from 10 to 13 bullets per second, while its initial spin-up period was removed entirely. As a result, Ares became an overpowering weapon that was exploited across the Valorant players. Ares was the weapon of choice in post-pistol and half-buy rounds due to its affordability.

Riot Games has responded by raising the price of the rifle from 1,550 to 1,600 Credits. Furthermore, it has made the weapon more difficult to control when spraying. Ares’ pitch recoil has been enhanced as well. Instead of 10 bullets, it will now only get smaller after 13 rounds. The advantages of spread and recoil control from crouching have also been lowered from 40% to 25%.

Furthermore, Valorant’s 4.01 patch update is allowing users to create their own muted word list. Valorant now has an AI that filters out offensive language, but this new feature will allow players to select the phrases they don’t want to see in the game. You can now add a term or phrase that you don’t want to see in your game to your preferences.
