Djokovic started off in fine fashion, dominating the proceedings by clinching the first set with relative ease. However, Holger ranked 145th in the world however should hiss mettle and clinched the second set via a tiebreaker, to put Djokovic under pressure. The 18-year-old then went on a slide following an injury, and Djokovic made the most of it, clinch a regulation win. Djokovic acknowledged Rune’s efforts and said, “It wasn’t the best of my performances. But at the same time, he played well in the second set when it mattered.”
