In a big blow to KKR, their new pacer recruit Umran Malik has been ruled out of the IPL 2025 due to an injury, as per a release by the BCCI. And now, in his place comes India bowler Chetan Sakariya, who has been out of the national side for over three years now.
Umran Malik Out, Chetan Sakariya In
Umran Malik, after he was not retained by SRH for IPL 2025, went to KKR in the Auction for INR 75 lakh only. He has had persistent injury issues in the last year or so, and could only play one match in the last season for Hyderabad. Overall in 26 matches, he has picked up 29 wickets, where his 2022 season turned out to be the best one, where he picked up 22 wickets in 14 encounters.
KKR Ready with Replacement
Coming to Chetan Sakariya, he had joined the KKR camp a couple of days back itself as a net bowler. He had gone unsold at the IPL Auction. Though he was with KKR in the last season too, but never got a game with them. Interestingly, he came to the limelight once again, when Kolkata bowling coach Bharat Arun spotted him at a T20 tournament in Mumbai.
