India cricket team’s ODI and Test captain, Rohit Sharma, has returned home. Having been away from his humble abode since the middle of February, the opener has returned to Mumbai. He travelled to Dubai for the ICC Champions Trophy, and post winning the title, he travelled to the Maldives with his family.
Rohit Sharma returns to Mumbai
Part of the Mumbai Indians (MI), Rohit will likely join the team soon. MI’s captain Hardik Pandya joined the camp for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season on March 11, just two days after Team India won the 2025 Champions Trophy.
Since Rohit isn’t the captain anymore, he hasn’t joined the franchise earlier. One mustn’t forget that he isn’t a spring chicken anymore. But his services will be of need to MI.
They already don’t have Jasprit Bumrah for the first few matches of the IPL 2025 season. But he won’t be the only one. Captain Hardik won’t be playing against the Chennai Super Kings on March 23.
The all-rounder was fined thrice by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for slow overrate, and after the last game of the IPL 2024 season, he was handed a 1-match ban. Since it couldn’t come into effect then, it will be applied in IPL 2025.
