In a noteworthy development, Chimaev, previously fighting out of Sweden, has obtained UAE citizenship, signifying a shift in his representation. This event marks his debut as a fighter of the UAE. As we approach this event, a compelling question arises: will he make history as the first fighter to represent the UAE? Let’s delve into the details.

As per reports Khamzat Chimaev is set to switch his representation from Sweden to the United Arab Emirates in the UFC. He’s gearing up for his first match under this new banner at UFC 294, where he’ll face off against Paulo Costa.

For those unfamiliar with Chimaev’s background, he was initially born in Chechnya, Russia. However, at the age of 18, he relocated to Sweden with his mother and older brother. Chimaev began his training at the AllStar gym in Stockholm in 2017, eventually representing Sweden in his UFC fights. At the upcoming UFC event, Khamzat Chimaev is on track to be the second fighter to proudly represent the UAE in the UFC, marking a significant step in his career.
