UFC 291: Stephen Thompson vs Michael Pereira Bout Canceled

The anticipation for the Thompson vs. Pereira matchup was sky-high, as both fighters were riding high on recent victories. Thompson, ranked number seven in the world, and Pereira, holding the 15th spot, promised a clash that had fans expecting fireworks. Sadly, with the cancellation of their bout, the chance to witness this intriguing showdown has been lost, leaving fight enthusiasts wanting for what could have been a crazy encounter.

While the ceremonial weigh-ins were looming, UFC’s Megan Olivi revealed the unfortunate news that the bout between Pereira and Stephen Thompson was axed. Pereira’s scale betrayed him, tipping at 174 pounds, a significant three pounds over the welterweight limit, while Thompson effortlessly made his mark at 170.5 pounds. Which is the second time in his career he missed the weight.
