Israel Adesanya can put his middleweight crown on the line against Sean Strickland at UFC 293 next since Dricus Du Plessis seems to be staying away from action for a while. Follow UFC News Updates with Insidesport.IN
Fresh off his win against Robert Whittaker at UFC 291, Du Plessis earned a shot at current 185 lbs champion Israel Adesanya.
The two even delivered an intense face-off inside the octagon last week.
However, Dricus Du Plessis appears to have medical reasons that can force him to stay out till UFC 293 and Adesanya has already clarified his intentions of fighting Sean Strickland.
That said, Sean Strickland recently spoke with helenyee sports and delivered a harsh warning to Israel Adesanya.
He said, “If I get that pay let’s push it. Let me go on the high on the axis.”
“I am gonna fu*** go in there. I am gonna put my fu**** hands up and I am gonna fu**** kill or die on my shield and I am gonna puncha that fu**** who*e right in his face.”
It is still not official whether Sean Strickland will get the next title shot in the division. However, Dricus Du Plessis’s absence can bring him that fortune.
Both Adesanya and Strickland are known for their trash talking abilities. Hence, the buildup of their potential fight is expected to be interesting.

Is Israel Adesanya vs Sean Strickland the fight to make next?
Per the current middleweight rankings, Sean Strickland sits at the sixth spot. Above him, there is Marvin Vettori, Robert Whittaker, Jared Cannonier, Dricus Du Plessis and Alex Pereira.
That said, Pereira is moving up to 205 lbs at UFC 291 against Jan Blachowicz. Robert Whitaker and Dricus Du Plessis just fought at UFC 290.
Therefore, Strickland’s chances of meeting ‘Izzy’ is already higher. Now it remains to be seen whether UFC actually books the fight or gives a title shot to someone else instead of Sean Strickland.
