After providing back-to-back exciting events over the previous several weekends, the UFC took a week off. Beginning with UFC Fight Night 229, also known as UFC Vegas 80, on October 7, 2023, the series of events will restart. The UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, will host the event.
The main event of the October 7 card will be a thrilling lightweight match between Bobby Green (30-14-1-1 MMA), a fan favourite, and eighth-ranked Grant Dawson (20-1-1 MMA). In 2019, Dawson made his UFC debut. He is one of the talented individuals who broke through through Dana White’s Contender Series.

He currently has an unblemished 8-0-1 record within the organisation, making him a true dark horse of the division. Four submissions, one knockout, and three decision victories are included. In July 2023, he defeated Damir Ismagulov and earned the biggest victory of his professional mixed martial arts career.
On paper, the fight card for October 7 may appear to be poor because there aren’t many well-known individuals participating on it. On paper weak cards, however, frequently produce the best fights.
The main event will feature a middleweight bout between Joe Pyfer and Abdul Razak Alhassan. A welterweight match between Joaquin Buckley and Alex Morono will also be on the main show.
Grant Dawson will face off against seasoned competitor Bobby Green in the UFC, risking his perfect record. Since the Strikeforce merger in 2012, the 37-year-old Green has been a mainstay of the organization’s lightweight division. He has faced off against some of the top fighters on the roster and has triumphed against a number of them.
In his most recent fight, Green won by dramatic submission over former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson. He now hopes to make it two straight victories. Bobby Green had previously lost to the reigning champion, Islam Makhachev, and then to Drew Dober.
