McMahon Gave Unique Nicknames UFC Stars
In a video, McMahon can be seen brainstorming new names for UFC fighters, based on their appearance or fighting style. Amanda Nunes, who is widely considered one of the best female fighters in UFC history, was given the nickname “MANDEZ” by McMahon. “Amanda Nunes is iconic, but her name is not chantable,” McMahon said in the video. “So I’m shorting it to ‘MANDEZ’.”
McMahon also came up with a nickname for Sean O’Malley, a rising star in the UFC who is known for his unique hairstyle and colorful tattoos. McMahon dubbed him “RAINBOW RONALDO,”
Dustin Poirier, another highly-ranked UFC fighter, was given the nickname “NEW BEAST JUICE” by McMahon. “He’s got some nice tattoos, so I’m going to call him ‘NEW BEAST JUICE’,” McMahon said in the video.
Kamaru Usman, the current UFC welterweight champion, was given the name “FRANCOIS” by McMahon. “Kamaru Usman looks like the Nigerian nightmare, but I’ll call him ‘FRANCOIS’,” McMahon said, seemingly at a loss for a more apt nickname.
Even Conor McGregor, who is no stranger to trash talk and name-calling, was not spared from McMahon’s creative naming process. McMahon dubbed the Irishman “RORY McMhon” and suggested running an angle where McGregor is portrayed as his son.
It remains to be seen whether any of these nicknames will catch on with fans or the fighters themselves, but it’s clear that McMahon’s larger-than-life personality and penchant for creative branding are not limited to the world of professional wrestling.
