Page, Michael “Venom” This past summer, the seasoned Bellator star declared his free agency, sparking speculation about his potential future destination. Though it would make sense for Michael “Venom” Page to sign a contract with the UFC, he also has no issues going forward with the PFL since, in his opinion, Michael Chan has a chance to meet many competitors with whom he never had the chance to compete in an octagon.
Page, 36, not only pulled together a 17-2 record with the company but also put together an amazing highlight reel while fighting inside the Bellator cage.
Dana White Interested In Having Michael Page In The UFC
After being lightly pressed on the subject, Page said to The MMA Fan Show that he couldn’t fully confirm that he was making the move to the UFC octagon.
After taking on nearly every opponent in Bellator’s 170-pound division, Page seemed to be headed toward the UFC. Relocating to the UFC would boost his matchmaking opportunities right away.
“It’s difficult to say because I think there’s dream fights and a lot of those dream fights land in the UFC,” Page said. “How I feel now to how I felt when I first joined MMA—you first join MMA, the whole goal was UFC because there were no other big shows that could really do anything. Over time, things have changed. It’s a lot more than just the name of the brand, there’s a lot more to it now. But ultimately, we can still get there and see those dream fights happen.”
The PFL recently bought Page’s former home ground in a significant agreement that brought the Bellator roster and other assets under its purview, complicating Page’s free freedom. Thus, Page’s decision to sign with the PFL can turn out to be a literal one.
Nevertheless, Page hasn’t ruled out the league as a potential destination since he loves what he’s seen thus far.
