Dustin Poirier Comes To a Disagreement With Justin Gaethje Regarding The ‘Stupid’ BMF Belt at UFC 291
The seasoned player recently said that he has a warm spot for the championship and anticipates wearing it around his waist the following time.
In an interview with MMA Junkie’s Mike Bohn, Dustin Poirier disclosed that he admires the BMF belt and that he hopes to defeat “The Highlight” in his upcoming fight to begin his quest for “all the belts.”
He also said, “It never crossed my mind that I would be fighting for a ‘BMF’ belt, but it’s awesome. I would love to hang it up in my living room. … I don’t think the ‘BMF” belt’s stupid. I like it. And it’s going to get wrapped around my waist.”

The “BMF” title has divided opinion since it was first announced prior to Masvidal’s victory over Nate Diaz at UFC 244 in November 2019, and the choice by the promotion to award it at Poirier vs. Gaethje 2 has received mixed feedback.
In spite of the fact that Poirier and Gaethje have a combined total of 24 Fight of the Night bonuses under the UFC brand, he claimed that he had no influence on the decision to put the title on the line.
On Saturday, 29 July, two of the best lightweights in the world will square off, putting the BMF belt once more on the line.
