Doumbé, a multiple-time champion in GLORY Kickboxing, recently agreed to accept a contract to participate in the PFL. The 4-0 mixed martial artist was supposed to face Darian Weeks in the UFC’s inaugural event in Paris this past September, but the fight never happened, and Doumbé ultimately missed out on the opportunity to battle in the octagon.

Cédric Doumbé explains that he couldn’t fight because of a doctor’s mistake. The doctor had mentioned that Cédric had blood in his brain, he hadn’t checked his reports before signing the contract initially, but later after the citation and having been cleared to compete by three other doctors the promotion parted ways with Doumbé.

Doumbé further claims that the Paris Commission has a rule stating that a professional fighter with fewer than 10 fights can only share the cage with a rival with almost comparable MMA experience, which also resulted in the fight being called off.

The 30-year-old is aware that he must demonstrate his value in order to justify the PFL’s investment in him, not only as a competitor. When questioned about the financial disparity between his PFL contract and the UFC’s offer, he responded that it is high time for him to be marking victories because all these times he has only been talking.
