ONE Heavyweight Champion Arjan Bhullar will be making his return to the ONE Championship octagon this week as he fights Anatoly Malykhin for the ONE Heavyweight Title. Ahead of his big match, Arjan Bhullar gave an inside of his Indian ethics and teachings he learned from his father. In an exclusive interview with Star Sports, the former UFC fighter detailed how his father played a great role in building his career today. While his conversation, Arjan Bhullar pinned the details of his father being a vital part of his success. Currently, Bhullar has achieved big heights in the MMA World which is a big milestone for any Indian fighter. Representing the country on a global level and following his father’s steps are much more important for him.

He said, He wrestled, he trained all over the world, and wherever he went I was with him. In the Akhada, when he was training, I was alongside him. Travelling for different matches, I was with him. So he was my idol, he used to never drink, never smoked, a true professional and a good father, good husband. All of the qualities of a champion. How to be a champion, how to live like a champion, within the sport and in life. So he was my first role model.” [H/T Star Sports]

ONE Heavyweight Champion Arjan Bhullar details Indian roots and ethics in his life

Arjan Bhullar was born in British Columbia, Canada on May 13, 1986. Despite being born in Canada, Bhullar has stuck to his Indian roots and ethics taught by his family. He noted how Indian ethics have always been with him despite being born in a Western country with a different culture.

During the conversation with Star Sports, the 37-year-old said about eating and living a life of Punjabi and it doesn’t matter where he lives now. It is vital for him to stick to his Indian roots. He said, “Doesn’t matter where you go, your blood is still your blood. And my blood and my roots are still Punjabi. Even where I am, the food I eat is Punjabi, I even speak in Punjabi. And that’s something you want to hang on to and keep.”

This Friday, Arjan Bhullar will be facing Anatoly Malykhin with the ONE Heavyweight Title on the line. This will be Bhullar’s return to the octagon after 2 years since winning the title.
