Dana White regrets getting a lifetime label for slapping his wife
Dana White, the president of the UFC, was captured on tape on New Year’s Eve in Mexico slapping his wife in the VIP area of a nightclub. On Wednesday, White told reporters that nobody should be justifying his conduct. He was addressing inquiries regarding the physical altercation in front of the media for the first time at the UFC’s Apex. White claimed that there have been internal conversations about the incident, including with ESPN, and that he has already dealt with — and will continue to deal with — his “penalty” from the incident.
“This is my punishment: I have to walk around for the rest of my life with this label. My second punishment is that many people who once respected me may no longer do so, including media members, competitors, friends, and strangers. I have to deal with many problems for the rest of my life, which is a much worse punishment than taking a 30- or 60-day leave of absence.”

UFC News round up: Sean Strickland insults French people
After admitting a mouth injury, Sean Strickland will take Kelvin Gastelum’s place at UFC Fight Night 217. “Tarzan,” getting ready for back-to-back fights, made a show of himself at his first UFC press conference of the year. Strickland is well-known for his vile statements in news conferences and exceedingly inappropriate social media posts. He also criticized Nassourdine Imavov for criticizing the French community at the press conference before the fight.
Strickland will be sparring with Imavov, who trains in France with coach Fernand Lopez—also Ciryl Gane’s trainer—so he insulted him by calling him a “cowardice” and a Frenchie. “I mean, let’s just call him a Frenchie because we know one thing about Frenchies: what are they best at?” he said. “Giving up. I haven’t watched him fight. He enjoys banging; I know that. Although he enjoys landing powerful blows, the man is still f*cking French. When you’re f*cking French, you’ve got a lot of history of timidity to go over.”

“So maybe he’ll use that to back up a statement. I don’t f*cking know; maybe he’ll declare that his nation has put cowardice behind it. The French were only skilled at affairs, conceding defeat, and losing battles. We’ll f*cking find out, though. Perhaps he’s unique.”
Former UFC fighter vouches for Power Slap
Potential participants appear keen to try out just one day after Dana White published a promotional video for his newest combat sports enterprise, the Power Slap League. Pearl Gonzalez, a former UFC women’s strawweight contender, seemed to be very excited about the possibility of competing in it. Gonzalez last competed in the UFC in 2017, but the Invicta fighter recently shared a video on Twitter that she appears to be trying out for the Power Slap League.
