Kamaru Usman on Colby Covington struggling to defeat him: The Nigerian Nightmare being out of the octagon for a while, but still holds his title honorably and has defended it dominantly.
The number one contender in the welterweight division, Colby Covington, suffered major losses in his career fighting Kamaru Usman in UFC 245 and UFC 268.
Kamaru Usman said, “There are a lot of guys in that top of the division,” “You’ve got Belal Muhammad is there. You’ve got (Khamzat) Chimaev is there. You’ve got Covington is still there, holding that door strong. At this point, Covington is standing right in front of that door. For it to really make sense, for anyone to really get through, they need to go through him because he’s proven he can beat everybody else but he can’t just beat me.
“For you to prove that you can fight for the title, I think you need to go through that guy. At the end of the day, I’m going to keep running through these guys until I’m bored. Whoever is next is next.”
Yeah, it’s indeed true. Anyone who wants to fight Usman needs to come through Colby Covington and chaos has never been out of the number one ranking for a while in the division.
The Nigerian nightmare is not a regular fighter. His striking dominance and his winning streak have elevated him to the level of the number one pound-to-pound fighter.
With a stunning record of straight 21 wins, he stands undefeated in UFC. He earned his name The Nigerian Nightmare, due to his dominant win and giving nightmares to his opponents.
Kamaru Usman receives regular call-outs from all other exceptional UFC fighters. Recently he received his callout from UFC’s notorious former double decision champion Conor McGregor and the now rising welterweight division champion Khamzat Chimaev.
His injury has left him out of the game and is trying to make his comeback in the most possible way.
