Conor McGregor details using moves from Roy Jones Jr.’s playbook against Floyd Mayweather

Recently, Conor McGregor took to his Instagram to appreciate boxing veteran Roy Jones Jr. The former UFC Champion gave his honest thoughts on Roy Jones detailing how pleased he was to meet him in person. He also added how Roy Jones’ moves helped him against Floyd Mayweather.

Conor McGregor posted a photo with Roy Jones Jr. where he described the multi-division champion. He described how the “backhand uppercut” he pulled on Floyd Mayweather from Roy Jones Jr.’s playbook during his big boxing match.

For those who don’t know Roy Jones Jr., the boxing world recognizes him as the multi-division champion as he held the championship belts in four weight classes. From starting his career as a light middleweight, he made it all the way up to the Heavyweight division winning the heavyweight title.

Who won McGregor vs Mayweather?

Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather became the biggest money fight in boxing history. Both fighters competed at light middleweight in a much-anticipated fight. The former UFC Champion started the bout with an impressive style dominating Floyd Mayweather. The first 3 rounds completely sided McGregor, however, he became fatigued as the fight progressed further.

Eventually, in the 9th round, Floyd Mayweather landed powerful punches on McGregor which resulted in a TKO in the 10th round. This ended the bout with Floyd Mayweather defeating Conor McGregor. Boxing legend Mike Tyson gave an “A” grade to McGregor for proving a dominant fighter in the ring. This fight also drew worldwide attention and increased PPV buys becoming the second-highest PPV sales.
