Major Fight Announced For UFC 294 Between LHW Superstars In Makhachev vs Oliveira Card

A highly anticipated light heavyweight match has been added to the card for the UFC’s now customary autumn return to Abu Dhabi.

The 205-pound division, which is presently without a champion after Jamahal Hill relinquished the championship due to an Achilles injury, could depend on the outcome of the fight between Magomed Ankalaev (18-1-1 MMA, 9-1-1 UFC) and Johnny Walker (21-7 MMA, 7-4 UFC).

Magomed Ankalaev, ranked No. 2, will make his Octagon comeback against Johnny Walker, ranked No. 6, at the next UFC 294 pay-per-view (PPV) event, which was just made official for Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

On October 21, UFC 294 will take place at Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Arena. The pay-per-view will feature the main card. The lightweight champion Islam Makhachev will defend his title against Charles Oliveira on the bill, and middleweight contenders Khamzat Chimaev and Paulo Costa have also been scheduled.

Ankalaev was defeated by Paul Craig on his UFC debut in 2018 with 0.1 seconds remaining. However, he then went on a nine-fight winning streak with three post-fight bonuses before competing at UFC 282 against former champion Jan Blachowicz for the vacant championship. But because their contest was a draw, the belt remained unclaimed until Hill did, at which point it was once more unclaimed.

Walker went through a hard stretch, losing four of his first five fights, but he has recovered significantly in the past year, winning three straight matches over previous championship challengers Anthony Smith, Ion Cutelaba, and Craig. The last victory came in May.
