Insidesport

Last November, Weili “Magnum” Zhang won the strawweight championship back by defeating Carla Esparza by second-round submission. In 2019, Zhang defeated Jessica Andrade in the first round to claim the title, which she successfully defended the following year against Joanna Jedrzejczyk in a thrilling five-round contest.

She was nevertheless starched by Rose Namajunas in April 2021, and she failed to regain the title when she fell victim to Namajunas again later that year, losing by a razor-thin split decision. Only those two defeats against Namajunas appear on her resume from the past ten years; since 2014, Zhang has amassed a 23-2 record (7-2 in the UFC).

The 34-year-old blends formidable wrestling prowess and devastating ground-and-pound with powerful strikes and constant pressure.
