Aljamain Sterling has previously stated, during his preparation for his fight against Henry Cejudo at UFC 288, that the fighter will eventually move up the weight division of 145 pounds. It was previously also assumed that after his fight with Henry, Cejudo Aljamain would have his last fight against Sean O’Malley, which would also mark his end of time in the weight division.

Sterling has said previously, that he has done a fabulous job managing his weight, and everything in the future would depend on how things work for him, and the level of difficulty. He had also mentioned that maintaining the weight of 135 pounds is pretty tough, and given his age, the task has been taking a toll on his body lately.

“Making 135 is not easy,” Sterling said. “I do it. It pays the bills. It’s my job. We’ll see what happens. It’s not easy. I’m getting older, 33 years old, cut down from about 168 [pounds], sometimes I’m ‘65 to ‘68, sometimes ‘70 cutting down. When I’m not training, that’s what I walk around at, that’s my natural state and I’m not fat or out-of-shape looking for a fighter profile. But to cut down, I lose a lot to get down to this weight, and I feel like my body, it’s become more difficult to make the weight class. So we’ll see.
