Despite their impressive records, Tony Ferguson, Jan Blachowicz, and Michael Chiesa all suffered surprising losses. The main event for the BMF title was particularly memorable, as the underdog fighter won with a stunning headkick which we can say it’s a Salt City miracle as we last year saw Leon Edwards won last year same way. Justin Gaethje emerged as the new BMF, defeating Dustin Poirier in an exciting showdown. Overall, it was a night of unexpected outcomes and impressive displays of skill and determination. UFC 291 Highlights: Dustin Poirier vs Justin Gaethje Details

The UFC belt holds significant importance as the ultimate symbol of success for fighters in their weight divisions. Alongside the regular belts, the UFC introduced the unique and special “BMF Title” (Baddest Motherf**** Belt). This distinctive belt was first featured at UFC 244, with Jorge Masvidal earning the title after defeating Nate Diaz. With Masvidal retiring from the sport, the BMF belt is now vacant, and the upcoming fight between Poirier and Gaethje was set determine the new champion for this coveted title.

What a stunning redemption for Gaethje, as he and Poirier are now tied 1-1. Despite Poirier potentially delivering a more damaging blow in the first round, Gaethje’s ability to land the majority of clean shots earned him a 10-9 victory. Then, in the second round, Gaethje shocked the audience by delivering a knockout blow to Poirier, resulting in a triumphant celebration including his signature backflip. The fight was called at the 1-minute mark of round 2, securing Gaethje’s victory and crowning him the new BMF champion.

The main card featured several other exciting matches in addition to the BMF championship fight. Alex Pereira and Jan Blachowicz faced off, with Pereira ultimately emerging victorious via split decision. Derrick Lewis made quick work of Marcos Rogério de Lima, securing a knockout victory in just 30 seconds.

Adding to that, Bobby Green won his match against Tony Ferguson via submission, while Kevin Holland also won via submission in his fight against Michael Chiesa. All in all, it was a thrilling night of fights with some surprising outcomes.
