UFC standout Amanda Nunes has announced her retirement following her dominant victory over Irene Aldana at UFC 289 earlier this month. The 35-year-old is regarded as the best female mixed martial artist ever and is the only woman to have held two titles in the organisation. After triumphing in Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada, she said it was her last battle and threw down her two belts in the centre of the mat.

Before quitting the sport, Nunes defended her women’s bantamweight championship against Irene Aldana in the main event. The pay-per-view points obtained by being a champion allow “The Lioness” to earn more money than the competition. The two-division world champion might have gotten a basic salary of $500,000, a win bonus of $100,000–$200,000, plus a few hundred thousand in PPV shares, for a total compensation of close to $1.25 million.

Oliveira, who was a world champion in the past, probably earns PPV points for the co-main event as well. Do Bronx may have received a base salary of between $350,000 and $500,000, a win bonus of between $100,000 and $200,000, and possibly a few hundred thousand in PPV shares, totalling close to $1 million.

Irene Aldana ($300,000+), Beneil Dariush ($350,000+), and Dan Ige ($150,000+ plus his win bonus) are a few other notable UFC 289 fighters who had their earnings estimated.

Charles Oliveira, Mike Malott and Steve Erceg were provided with an amount of $50,000 as a performance bonus for their debut.
