UFC 287: Daniel Cormier Analyzes Jorge Masvidal’s Chances of Beating Gilbert Burns in Miami

DC and Clark recently sat down for an ESPN MMA video to discuss the upcoming UFC event, particularly the Masvidal vs. Burns fight. When asked for his opinion on the fight, Clark noted that the UFC is known for booking fights that generate a lot of buzz and revenue.

With Leon Edwards in need of a challenger, this is a crucial fight. Clark believes that if Masvidal defeats Burns, he will likely earn another shot at the title. While Clark sees Masvidal in a great position, he doesn’t underestimate Burns and recognises that he could pose a serious threat to Masvidal’s hopes of victory.

Clark also posed an interesting question regarding the location of the fight. As the event is taking place in Masvidal’s hometown of Miami, he wondered whether this could give Masvidal an edge over Burns in the octagon.

To which DC stated, “I think it propels him. Being the pride of that city in our sports dude that is a great comparison to Udonis Haslem. I mean the Heat would not let Haslam go anywhere he’s like a player-coach essentially. Gameberd is the same thing to the UFC in terms of Miami. So I feel like they will propel him.” (28:00 Onwards)

He added, “So for Gilbert Burns, while he does fight back this is one instance in which he is fighting back to fight for something bigger…I feel both are on the verge but I think it matters more to Masvidal he has to win if he wants to even stay relevant in what is a very stacked welterweight division.”

It remains to be seen how the location will impact the outcome of the fight, but it certainly adds an element of excitement and anticipation for fans of both fighters.
