In the Co-Main Event, Zhang Weili defeated Carla Esparza by submission (rear-naked choke) at 1:05 of Round 2. Also, Dustin Poirier defeated Michael Chandler by submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:00 in Round 3.

It was won by submission by former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier (29-7 MMA, 21-6 UFC) against Michael Chandler. With five minutes left to work, Poirier adjusted his position and locked Chandler in a rear-naked choke submission. It left his opponent with no function but to tap.

UFC 281 News: Zhang Weili wins the co-main event

In the women’s strawweight division, Zhang Weili has reclaimed the top spot. In the co-main event, Weili submitted Carla Esparza using a rear-naked choke to win the title for the second time in her career. At the 1:05 minute of the second round, Zhang switched to a rear-naked choke to compel Esparza to submit with one of his arms still impaled.

UFC 281: Submission wins in prelims and early prelims

In the prelims of UFC 281, there were two wins via submission. Renato Moicano defeated Brad Riddell via rear-naked choke submission, 3:20 of round 1, and Erin Blanchfield def. Molly McCann via kimura submission, 3:27 of round 1. Meanwhile, in the early prelims, there were no wins registered with a submission.
