UFC 265: 3 Wild Knockouts of Derrick Lewis which shook everyone: Derrick Lewis, more popularly called ‘The Black Beast’ has been terrorizing the UFC heavyweight division for several years. Going against some of the best fighters on the roster, Lewis couldn’t remain scratch-free on his journey and has fallen prey to his opponents 7 times. However, Derrick Lewis’ 25 wins as a pro-MMA fighter reflect some of the scariest knockouts.

Several fighters have hesitated to acknowledge Lewis’ prowess as a top-tier combatant. Nevertheless, Derrick Lewis has silenced the haters by feeding them to the canvas. Now, the main event of UFC 265 will see him collide against Ciryl Gane for the first-ever Interim heavyweight championship.

As we leap towards UFC 265 this week, here’s a look back at Derrick Lewis’ 3 big knockouts that brought the fight fans to their toes.

UFC 265 Derrick Lewis: ‘The Black Beast’ vs Curtis Blaydes

Prior to sealing his fate as a headlining contender at UFC 265, Lewis went against Curtis Blaydes in February. The win became Lewis’ ticket to the Interim title fight. However, Blaydes was never easy to deal with. Akin to Derrick Lewis, Curtis Blaydes also came with sheer aggression.

The first round saw both men try their luck at each other and it seemed prominent that either man would stop the other. In round two, Lewis shot his punches from the range and caught Blaydes clean on the head. Herb dean signaled the fight off and Lewis was awarded a big win. No wonder it was a scary stoppage to watch.

UFC 265 Derrick Lewis: Beating down Aleksei Oleinik

Before facing Blaydes, Lewis locked horns against ‘The Boa Constrictor’ in an intriguing matchup in 2020. Riding a two-fight win streak, Aleksei Oleinik came with a lot of promises against Lewis. Nevertheless, he could only see till round two where ‘The Black Beast’ knocked him out.

After surpassing the first bell of the fight, Lewis looked aggressive in the second round. He aimed for one perfect shot and, on receiving the chance; he pulled off a punch to the head. It left a very minimal lifeline in Oleinik and Derrick Lewis added another big win under his name.

UFC 265: Testing the Volkov

In the undercard of UFC 229- ‘McGregor vs Khabib’, Lewis was tested to his core by Alexander Volkov. ‘Drago’ was on a four-fight win streak in the UFC and looked prominent against Lewis. Furthermore, Volkov outclassed his opponent in several scenarios. However, there’s no answer to Lewis’ impeccable power.

In round three, The Black Beast settled the odds by stopping Volkov. Although many had predicted to see Lewis lose by then, he shocked the world with a thunderous knockout on board. The win staged his rise in the UFC to reaching a point where he can be the first-ever Interim heavyweight champion of the promotion at UFC 265.
