The second UFC event of the month of October got off to a sluggish start, but UFC Fight Night 230 ended with one of the year’s best fights.
In the main event, rated featherweight Edson Barboza (24-11 MMA, 18-11 UFC) defeated Sodiq Yusuff (13-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC) via unanimous decision after recovering from a brutal first-round beating.

$50,000 in fight-night bonuses were awarded to Barboza, Yusuff, Jonathan Martinez, and Michel Pereira at UFC Fight Night 230.
With a swift first-round TKO victory over Andre Petroski (10-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC), who had never lost in the UFC, Michel Pereira (29-11 MMA, 7-2 UFC) immediately established himself as a middleweight contender. After years at welterweight, Pereira upped to 185 pounds, he needed just 66 seconds to finish Petroski after nearly 17 months on the sidelines.
Adrian Yanez (16-5 MMA, 5-2 UFC) was the target of Jonathan Martinez’s (19-4 MMA, 10-3 UFC) leg kick strategy. He continued doing it until he finally took Yanez down for the final time for a TKO. Martinez is now only the second fighter in UFC history to receive multiple leg kick finishes. He shares that accomplishment with Edson Barboza, the featured performer on Saturday.
