From intense training sessions to explosive fights, the action is non-stop as each fighter strives to prove their worth and earn a spot on the winning team. The second episode of The Ultimate Fighter Series 31 saw a mix of drama and excitement, as fighters battled it out for supremacy in the octagon.
However, before any fights could take place, there was a bit of controversy. Bantamweight fighter Trevor Wells (Team McGregor) was deemed unfit to compete due to a cold sore on his face. UFC president Dana White suggested a catchweight bout for the postponed fight, which was agreed upon by both teams.
Team McGregor lost once again to Team Chandler
With the postponed fight off the cards, the next bout was between Cody Gibson (Team Chandler) and Mando Gutierrez (Team McGregor). From the outset, Gibson took control of the fight, tying up Gutierrez along the fence before exchanging punches.
Gutierrez bled from the bridge of his nose, but continued to press forward with an aggressive combination. However, Gibson was not to be underestimated, landing a beautiful switch knee that knocked Gutierrez to the ground. Gibson then followed up with punches, securing a TKO victory in the first round.
Things apart from fight
In addition to the thrilling fight, things also got heated in the TUF House’s kitchen. As lightweight contestants Roosevelt Roberts (Team Chandler) and Landon Quinones (Team McGregor) engaged in a combative conversation, Jason Knight (Team Chandler) tried to make his stir fry in peace. McGregor and his assistants visited the fighters at the TUF House, bringing whiskey and stouts with them. McGregor even allowed Gutierrez to give him a haircut, which turned out surprisingly well.
Overall, the second episode of The Ultimate Fighter Series 31 was another exciting installment in this classic UFC series. While the postponed fight was disappointing, the bout between Gibson and Gutierrez more than made up for it, with a highlight-reel-worthy finish.
The tension between the fighters in the TUF House’s kitchen also added an extra layer of drama to the episode. With Team Chandler currently up 2-0 against Team McGregor, it will be interesting to see how the rest of the competition plays out.
