O’Malley stated that a return in December is possible during his interview with McAfee, revealing that he had spoken to Dana White shortly after his victory. This suggestion is assuming that O’Malley can fully recover from the rib injury he got during the UFC 292 main event.

O’Malley also disclosed that Conor McGregor, a former two-division UFC champion, sent him a note. In a direct message on Instagram, the Irishman lauded O’Malley’s performance and hinted that the two might compete at the same event in December when the UFC wraps up its pay-per-view season for the year.

Conor McGregor also DM’ed Sugar writing, “Baby we did it’, and I said, ‘We sure fu**ing did.’ I said, ‘You main eventing in December, I’m co-main eventing?’ All he replied was, ‘Shot caller.’ I don’t know what that means but I feel like I kinda do so I’m hoping that’s a yes in fu**ing Irish.”

Sean O’Malley also disclosed that he thinks the incident caused him to suffer a slight rib injury. Although he stated that he would need a few weeks to heal, he plans to make his maiden championship defence at UFC 296 in December.
