Rana has improved his MMA abilities at the Yogya MMA Gym in Lucknow under the direction of coach Partho Ghosh. He entered the professional MMA scene in 2018, and since then, he has primarily competed in Indian promotions, compiling an 11-1 record until Sunday. But with his defeat against Chang Ho, the dream of Rana Rudra Pratap to secure a position in UFC seems to have come to an end.

On Sunday in Shanghai, the Bantamweight division of the Road to UFC season 2 featured a bout between South Korean fighter Chang Ho Lee and Indian mixed martial artist Rana Rudra Pratap Singh.

Indian Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Rana Rudra Pratap Singh was scheduled to go up against South Korea’s  Chang Ho Lee in the Bantamweight division in the Road to Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) season 2 on Sunday in Shanghai.

Sadly, the Indian team of Rana Rudra Pratap Singh and Sumit Kumar were eliminated from their respective weight division competitions in Shanghai’s first round. In a flyweight match, Kumar lost by decision; in a bantamweight match, Singh lost by way of a stoppage. The South Korean opponents defeated both Indian MMA competitors.

  • Xiao Long (China) defeated Shohei Nose (Japan) by split decision
  • Sang Wook Kim (South Korea) defeated Kazuma Maruyama (Japan) by submission (d’arce choke), Round 1
  • Shuya Kamikubo (Japan) defeated Baergeng Jieleyisi (China) by a split decision
  • Rong Zhu (China) defeated Seong Chan Hong (South Korea) by TKO, in Round 1

Road to the UFC 4 results:

  • Peter Danasoe (Thailand) defeated Sim Kai Xiong (SG) by KO (flying knee), in Round 1
  • Daermisi Zhawupasi (China) defeated Eperaim Ginting (Indonesia) by submission (RNC), Round 1
  • Shin Haraguchi (Japan) defeated Windri Patilima (Indonesia) by TKO (Punches), Round 2
  • Chang Ho Lee (South Korea) defeated Rana Rudra Pratap Singh (India) by TKO (Punches), Round 1
  • Batebolati Bahatebole (China) defeated Won Bin Ki (South Korea) by disqualification (back of the head strikes), Round 2
