Puja Tomar The First Indian Woman To Bag UFC Contract Thanks MFN

The Soma Fight Club in Bali, Indonesia, where Puja trains, is also "home" to Anshul Jubli, who uses it to get ready for UFC bouts. She had previously defended the strawweight championship against Anastasia Feofanova of Russia in July, and she was the champion at MFN.

Puja Tomar trains at the Soma Fight Club in Indonesia, which she refers to as “home” and which Anshul Jubli uses to get ready for UFC bouts.

Puja acknowledged that competing in the UFC is every MMA fighter’s ambition, but she was adamant that hard effort was the only way to get her talent recognized. After winning her MFN championship defense against Anastasia, Puja struck gold. Ritu Phogat, an MMA fighter, initially told Puja about the UFC deal.

Puja Tomar Signs Contract With UFC Last Month

It is difficult to refute the notion, Puja Tomar argues, particularly for an amateur mixed martial arts fighter. Nobody can better describe the weird emotion that comes with becoming the first girl in your nation to sign a UFC deal than Puja Tomar. The 27-year-old, who has made a name for herself in the Indian MMA scene, said last month that she had signed a deal with the largest company. She is anticipated to make her debut in February or March of the following year.

Puja Tomar stated to Hindustan Times, “Everyone dreams of fighting in the UFC and I’m proud to become the first female from India to get into UFC. And now I’ve to deliver my best,”

The Soma Fight Club in Bali, Indonesia, where Puja trains, is also “home” to Anshul Jubli, who uses it to get ready for UFC bouts. She had previously defended the strawweight championship against Anastasia Feofanova of Russia in July, and she was the champion at MFN. A five-time national wushu champion in the past, she began her MMA career with Super Fight League (SFN). Puja participated in ONE Championship, the top mixed martial arts promotion in South Asia, but her experience there was lackluster—she lost four of her five matches.

Puja now faces a formidable lineup full of elite players. Zhang Weili, the current UFC women’s strawweight champion, is one of them. Zhang and Puja both have a similar background in wushu, and the Indian has always dreamed of competing against her idol in the octagon.
