Paulo Costa asserts that he will still attend UFC 294. Rumours of Paulo Costa’s departure from UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi have been categorically refuted.
On October 21, “Borrachinha” is set to fight Khamzat Chimaev, but the fight was cast in doubt as Costa revealed that he had undergone surgery weeks before his scheduled appearance.
As per previous reports, it had been claimed, that due to unforeseen circumstances, Paulo Costa will not be competing against Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 294. Because of the Brazilian’s bursa issue, Dana White had also recently said that the fight would be at risk, and it appeared that his worst fears have come true.

‘Borrachinha’ is reportedly out of his fight with Chimaev, and the organisation asked Marvin Vettori to fill in on short notice, according to the OverDogs Podcast. But because “The Italian Dream” declined, the UFC was forced to scramble to find a top-tier middleweight challenger to take on “Borz.”
Paulo Costa disclosed that he had surgery on his right elbow as a result of severe bursitis. Following the incident, ‘Borrachinha’ needed 10 stitches and was given a two-week recuperation period without exercise. As the news spread, rumours of his pulling out from the fight continued to spread.
Moreover, once Charles Oliveira withdrew from the main event, numerous significant media outlets spread the rumour that Costa had done the same, which is just untrue in the opinion of the Brazilian slugger:
Paulo has put an end to all the ongoing rumours, by posting on X, where he states “ Im not pulling out this fight anyway , let me fight the fuck gourmet Chen Chen . IAM here in ABUDHABI ALready n prepared mtfks.”
The terminology used by Costa should be much better. He denied quitting the fight, but by saying “let me fight” and “I really want [to] smoke that guy,” he also unintentionally suggested that he isn’t given the option to continue.
As the post on X spread, numerous UFC fans commented on it, looking at some of the comments:
Hopefully, there was merely a miscommunication and the co-main event can go on as scheduled.
