Max Holloway: Rise to UFC Gold

Holloway made his debut in the UFC back in 2012. However, he rose to fame a few years later. The Hawaiian did not have an easy run to the title. He beat the likes of Cub Swanson, Charles Oliveira, Jeremy Stephens, and Ricardo Lamas. Ultimately, he earned himself an interim title bout against Anthony Pettis.

An impressive knockout in the third round against Pettis earned Holloway the interim title. This set up an exciting showdown with the then-undisputed champion Jose Aldo. The two met at UFC 212 in 2017 and put on a show for the ages.

Aldo started strong and put pressure on Holloway. However, Holloway showcased his incredible chin and taunted the Brazilian. After three exciting rounds, Holloway landed a perfect left-right combination and dropped the Brazilian. He then jumped on Aldo and finished the fight ruthlessly.

Therefore, Holloway took down one of the best featherweights in UFC history to become the undisputed featherweight champion of the world. And although he would later lose the belt to Alexander Volkanovski, Holloway still remains one of the greatest to ever step into the octagon in the featherweight division.
