Revisiting one of the best knockouts in UFC from Edson Barboza
The Brazilian fighter took on Terry Etim in 2012, in what was just his third UFC contest. And the two delivered two intriguing rounds. However, in the third round, Barboza showed the world what he could do and etched his name in the UFC history books.
With just over three minutes on the clock, Barboza shut down an attack from Etim and blocked a head kick. He then followed it up with a perfectly timed and flawlessly executed spinning heel kick. The kick landed perfectly and knocked Etim out cold. This was also the first time in UFC history that any fighter used the spinning hell kick to knock out an opponent.
Since then, Barboza has built a reputation for being a knockout fighter. He has delivered some great contests over the years. And out of his 23 wins, 14 have come by knockout. Barboza has some other famous knockouts to his name.
The Brazilian knocked out Beneil Dariush and Dan Hooker. While he also went viral for his incredible knockout win over Shane Burgos in 2021. Therefore, Barboza has proved multiple times that his spinning hell knockout was not a fluke. This is something Sodiq Yussuf will have to be careful about at UFC Vegas 81 this weekend.
