UFC 291: Poirier vs Gaethje 2 Main Card Preview and Prediction

Michael Chiesa vs Kevin Holland

The UFC 291 main card kicks off with a banger welterweight contest between Michael Chiesa and Kevin Holland. Kevin Holland has a slight upper hand in terms of physical attributes. However, the numbers show it’s a fight between two contrasting styles. Chiesa fights in southpaw while Holland fights in an orthodox stance. Moreover, Holland is a much better striker, while Chiesa is a much better grappler.

Our prediction: Kevin Holland beats Michael Chiesa by TKO.

Tony Ferguson vs Bobby Green

Lightweight veterans Tony Ferguson and Bobby Green will go head-to-head at the UFC 291 main card. There is little to separate the two in terms of their physical attributes. Ferguson will want to bounce back after a loss in his last fight while Green will want to set the record straight after a no-contest in the last fight. There is very little to separate the two even in the stats as both land over five significant strikes per minute and are decent grapplers.

Our prediction: Tony Ferguson beats Bobby Green by decision.

Stephen Thompson vs Michel Pereira

Welterweights Stephen Thompson and Michel Pereira will also lock horns at UFC 291 this weekend. This promises to be a chess match of a fight between two incredibly talented technical fighters. Both fighters have won their previous fights and have almost identical physical attributes. In terms of the numbers, Pereira has a slight upper hand in the striking and grappling.

Our prediction: Michel Pereira beats Stephen Thompson by TKO.

Jan Blachowicz vs Alex Pereira

Former UFC Middleweight champion Alex Pereira will return this weekend to face former UFC light-heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz. The two will look to make a statement to division with a win. In terms of physical attributes, Pereira has the upper hand. Moreover, when we look at the stats, we can see that Pereira is the better striker. However, Blachowicz is the better grappler.

Our prediction: Alex Pereira beats Jan Blachowicz by knockout.
