TUF Episode 2 Preview: Can Team McGregor Bounce back in TUF 31 Episode 2?
The second episode will feature a bantamweight contest between Team McGregor’s number two bantamweight Trevor Wells and Team Chandler’s number three bantamweight Timur Valiev. While Valiev definitely has experience on his side, Trevor Wells is on a four-fight win streak.
However, neither Wells nor Valiev has impressive knockout or submission numbers. Therefore, it is likely that this fight goes to a decision. Wells will look to finish it by taking the first two rounds. However, Valiev will want to win at least one and hope his experience serves him well in the third.
So the next fight is a toss-up for Team McGregor. It could go their way or they could find themselves 0-2. So here are five prospects to look out for on Team McGregor.
5 prospects to watch on Team McGregor at TUF 31
5. Rico Disciullo: 11-2-0 Rico Disciullo is the perfect all-round fighter. His no-nonsense approach has given him four knockout wins, three submission wins, and four decision wins. Therefore, his ability to do it all could serve Team McGregor well.
4. Mando Gutierrez: Bantamweight Mando Gutierrez is Team McGregor’s number one bantamweight. And the 8-2-0 fighter is a submission specialist with 75% of his wins coming by submission. Thus, he could be a great asset to Team McGregor.
3. Lando Quinones: 7-1-1 lightweight Lando Quinones could be the power-puncher that stamps his authority on TUF 31. He has five knockouts out of his seven wins, and his only loss was a decision loss. Therefore, his power could be a defining factor for Team McGregor’s success.
2. Aaron McKenzie: Another exciting lightweight who can do it all is Aaron McKenzie. He has an 11-2-1 record. Out of these 11 wins, four have come by knockout, four have come by submission, and three have been decision wins. Therefore, like Disciullo, his ability to do it all could change the fortunes of Team McGregor.
1. Lee Hammond: And finally, at number one, it’s Conor McGregor’s number one lightweight and teammate, Lee Hammond. Hammond trains at SGB with McGregor and the Team McGregor coaches even admitted that they wanted Hammond on their side. The 5-0 undefeated youngster comes into TUF 31 with a lot of hype. He could be the trump card for Team McGregor.
So there you have it. This is what we have to look forward to at the TUF 31 episode 2. What do you think will happen?
