Ngannou lost a close split decision to Tyson Fury. Despite getting an early knockdown and counter-punching like a seasoned pro, Ngannou did not do enough to get the win. However, the Cameroonian did himself and his sport proud, with an incredible performance against one of the best in boxing.
Francis Ngannou Shakes Up MMA World Against Tyson Fury, but Dana White Says He Missed the Fight
Dana White claims he didn’t watch Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou
The UFC CEO is one of the biggest fight fans in the world. And despite his brutal opinions on the situation of boxing today, we often find White tuning into the boxing fights. He even watched Canelo Alvarez vs Billy Joe Saunders during a UFC Fight Night event.
However, White recently caught up with Donald Trump Jr. for a podcast. The two spoke about a whole host of topics. When Trump Jr. asked him about the fight, White surprisingly said, “I didn’t see the fight. But the fact that he went ten rounds with Tyson Fury is crazy.”
Thus, while this comment revealed that White did not watch the fight, he still gave Ngannou the credit he deserved. However, his claim of not watching the event is even more surprising considering there were no UFC events that weekend.
The UFC CEO then addressed the MMA vs Boxing situation. He said, “So if you look at it as, he just went 10 rounds with Tyson Fury. Conor went nine or ten with Floyd. Anthony Pettis just beat Roy Jones Jr. I know Roy is 60 years old or whatever. But I don’t know what the hell is going on. It’s crazy.”
Therefore, like most fight fans, even Dana White is struggling to understand the concept of crossover boxing. What do you make of these comments? Do you think White did not tune into the fight due to the bad blood between Ngannou and the UFC?
