Khamzat Chimaev To Undergo Surgery In Coming Weeks

Khamzat Chimaev has announced that he will have surgery in about two weeks after tearing a ligament in his hand.

Khamzat Chimaev, a middleweight contender in the UFC, revealed on his Instagram account on Tuesday that he will have surgery in the upcoming weeks.

Chimaev (13-0) defeated former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman by decision, although in the first round of the contest, he tore a ligament in his right hand. Soon after the fight, Chimaev’s management informed ESPN that he would try to avoid surgery, but it looks like things have changed.

Update Of Khamzat Chimaev’s Return To UFC 300 After Surgery

Khamzat Chimaev recently provided an update on his injuries and suggested when he would return.

The last time Chimaev was seen competing was against Kamaru Usman at UFC 294. Even though ‘Borz’ prevailed by majority decision, his opportunity to earn the middleweight title has been postponed due to a hand injury.

The UFC fighter has announced that he will have surgery in about two weeks after tearing a ligament in his hand. Initially, it was thought that surgery would not be necessary.

Chimaev recently said on Instagram Live that he would love to return for UFC 300.

“I’m going to do a surgery, operation in one, two weeks,” Chimaev said on Instagram Live. “After that, do the recovery, come back, smash somebody.”

An ESPN request for comment was not immediately answered by Chimaev’s representatives.

The 29-year-old Chimaev did not seem bothered about the injury and said he will be back in the first quarter of 2024.

Chimaev, who was born in Chechnya, is currently training in Dubai and Sweden and has emerged as one of the UFC’s most promising championship contenders in recent years. With five finishes, he is unbeaten in the UFC. Although he has fought at middleweight and welterweight weights, it is anticipated that he will advance in the 185-pound class.
